I was very EXTRA in October. I read all the KU at the start of the month and started a Guild Hunter reread at the end while also squeezing in one of CoHo’s most bananas books. I did have a draft October tbr but read none of the Halloween-ey books I’d planned. Guild Hunter has vampires and lots of gore though so I feel like I was reading the perfect books for that! 😀

Moonstruck (Necessary Evils #3) – 3⭐& Headcase (Necessary Evils #4) – 3.5⭐ by Onley James
This series is absolute chaos and totally binge worthy. It was the perfect madness while I was beach/poolside.
Making the Match (River Rain #4) by Kristen Ashley – 3.5⭐
I’m a little bit disappointed and the reason for that has to do with the Genny drama. I understand that not every HEA is always a HEA and sometimes things crop up and couples’ need to work through it, but Genny’s reaction to Tom being in a new relationship didn’t feel like it was explored or explained very well. It made me feel like perhaps Genny and Duncan’s relationship is not the HEA I thought it was and that was kind of sad because I adored them. I can see what the hope was, to highlight Genny’s lack of communication and habit of shutting down, but it just fell flat for me and took away from Genny and Duncan and dare I say, it felt a little like placing blame on Genny for the marriage breaking down? I know Tom said MANY times that he takes full responsibility but Genny doing to Duncan what she did to Tom felt off to me. Maybe had we had a Genny and Duncan POV’s that would have helped?
It’s a pity really as I liked Mika, ADORED her daughter, I’m in absolute love with Nora and all the secondary characters have me super excited about this series!
Court of the Vampire Queen by Katee Robert – 4⭐
Ah Katee!! She can’t be beat when you are in a mood. I was in a mood (post holiday blues) and this just hit the spot! Mina was a bit of a pain but the boys more than made up for it. Would have loved their POV though!
Broken Miles (Miles Family #1) – 3⭐, Forbidden Miles (Miles Family #2) – 3⭐, Reckless Miles (Miles Family #3) – 4⭐, Hidden Miles (Miles Family #4) – 3.5⭐& Gaining Miles (Miles Family #5) – 3⭐by Claire Kingsley
These books were super cute and Claire Kingsley is an author I’ll be sure to look out for in the future. This series is full of the tropes (second chance, best friends sister, scarred hero) all set in a small town. What’s not to love I ask you? 😀
Angels’ Blood (Guild Hunter #1) – 5⭐, Archangel’s Kiss (Guild Hunter #2) – 5⭐, Archangel’s Consort (Guild Hunter #3) – 5⭐, Archangel’s Blade (Guild Hunter #4) – 5⭐ Archangel’s Storm (Guild Hunter #5) – 5⭐ . Archangel’s Legion (Guild Hunter #6) – 5⭐, Archangel’s Shadows (Guild Hunter #7) – 4.5⭐, Archangel’s Enigma (Guild Hunter #8) – 4.5⭐, Archangel’s Heart (Guild Hunter #9) – 5⭐, Archangel’s Viper (Guild Hunter #10) – 4.5⭐, Archangel’s Prophecy (Guild Hunter #11) – 5⭐by Nalini Singh
Reread in preparation for Archangel’s Resurrection (Guild Hunter #15), I love this series. I really can’t pick a favourite when it comes to this and Psy-Changeling Series. Guild Hunter is much gorier though so works well for this time of year. Maybe that’s why she publishes the new book in the series each October? 🤷
Well that was a lot of fun. CoHo isn’t my go to but she also rarely disappoints. This was a big departure from her usual and I hope she goes down this road again. I literally can’t say anything because anything I say would be a spoiler and I kind of love that.
So…
Not a romance. More like a psychological thriller.
