Tried not to reread too much this month and I kind of managed it?
I seem to have been nostalgic for my 2013 reading habits this month. I originally read MacKenzies & McBrides, Dragon Kin and Ghosts and Reincarnation in 2013 and had the urge to read them all this month!
The highlight reads for me were the last two. The new Nalini Singh (Last Guard) and my non-fiction for the month of July, Cult Following by Bexy Cameron.
Wild Wind (Chaos #6.6) by Kristen Ashley – 4⭐
Finished up the Chaos series with this novella, I mentioned it in last months post but I’ll say again that I’m glad for the two novellas given the shit show that Free (Chaos #6) turned out to be.
Rock Bottom Girl by Lucy Score – 4⭐
This came across my radar randomly and it was funny and sweet.
The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Mackenzies & McBrides #1) – 4.5⭐, Lady Isabella’s Scandalous Marriage (Mackenzies & McBrides #2) – 3.75⭐, The Many Sins of Lord Cameron (Mackenzies & McBrides #3) – 4.5⭐, The Duke’s Perfect Wife (Mackenzies & McBrides #4) – 4⭐, The Seduction Of Elliot McBride (Mackenzies & McBrides #5) – 4⭐, The Untamed MacKenzie (Mackenzies & McBrides #5.5) – 3.5⭐, The Wicked Deeds of Daniel Mackenzie (Mackenzies & McBrides #6) – 4 ⭐ by Jennifer Ashley
My plan was to finally finish this series and as it’s been so long since I read it I needed a refresher. I binged the first 6 but feel I need a little break before I continue. The rest are all new reads so I hope to get to them in August!
Kololo Hill by Neema Shah – 4.5⭐
Fabulous debut and a really interesting read. I think pretty much everyone knows about Idi Amin and his reign of terror but I had no idea about the Asian expulsion. This book follows one such families journey. Highly recommended!
Soulless (Parasol Protectorate #1) – 4.5⭐, Meat Cute: The Hedgehog Incident (Parasol Protectorate #0.75) – 4⭐ by Gail Carriger
This has the potential to be such a fun series. Steampunk with vampires and werewolves, I mean what’s not to love?!
Dragon Actually (Dragon Kin #1) – 4⭐, About a Dragon (Dragon Kin #2) – 4⭐, What a Dragon Should Know (Dragon Kin #3) – 4.5⭐ by G.A. Aiken
Like MacKenzies & McBrides, I started this reread in order to finish the series, I really enjoyed them but like MacKenzies & McBrides I’m not sure a total binge will work for me so I hope to continue on in the coming months.
Sommersgate House (Ghosts and Reincarnation #1) – 4.5⭐, Lacybourne Manor (Ghosts and Reincarnation #2) – 4⭐, Penmort Castle (Ghosts and Reincarnation #3) – 4.5⭐, Fairytale Come Alive (Ghosts and Reincarnation #4) – 5⭐, Lucky Stars (Ghosts and Reincarnation #5) – 4⭐by Kristen Ashley
This was my first reread of this series and it was super fun. Read these during my staycation while we were having a heatwave. I was very happy with my choice.
Last Guard (Psy/Changeling Trinity #5) by Nalini Singh – 5⭐
A great addition to the series. Canto and Payal are new favourites for sure!
Cult Following by Bexy Cameron – 5⭐
I’m hoping to do a review for Cult Following but I always find it hard to review non-fiction but this one is living in my brain rent free so I feel I need to write something about it. Really well written and I loved the mix of past and present and how that was conveyed.
