Spooky month and instead of very spooky I decided to read mostly monster romance. AGAIN!

Well monsters and there was some aliens in there for good measure, could we call them mutants? Are the monsters mutants?
A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor (Tempting Monsters #1) – 4.5⭐, Traveling with Gentlemen (Tempting Monsters #1.1) – 4⭐, The Basilisk of Star Manor: A Tempting Monsters Story (Tempting Monsters #1.5) – 4⭐, The Company of Fiends (Tempting Monsters #2) – 3.5⭐by Kathryn Moon
Oh this is fun, I’m really here for Kathryn Moon monsters, she writes good monsters. The Lady of Rooksgrave Manor was by far the best and Traveling with Gentleman was HAWT. I know word on the street is that Sanctuary with Kings is the last book in this series but I do hope she writes more from this universe. Mad for monsters this year. I think given how awful the real life monsters in the world are, it’s nice to read about imaginary monsters who are only deemed monsters because of how they look, find some love with humans and other monsters.
One Look (The Sullivan Family #1) by Lena Hendrix – 3⭐
Small town single dad romance!
This is the kind of book that gets me through a Sunday and this book did exactly that! 😀
Wyatt was super grumpy and Lark was lovely. I enjoyed their dynamic and it was a very satisfying slow burn.
The whole Sullivan/King rivalry was a bit overdone and became a little annoying though. I get it, MJ and the oldest Sullivan are likely going to get their own book and we need the Romeo and Juliet thing to set it up but separate parts of the pub and sides of the street? Really?
I mean I’m obviously going to read the rest but this was just a very overdone plot point!
Cosmic Kiss by Clio Evans – 4⭐
Clio Evans is a drug and I’m an addict.
I save their books so I don’t run out. Queens and Monsters is now out so I could read this.
They are silly, over the top, the plot can sometimes leave a lot to be desired but I’m just hooked. I always have a great time and they are super speedy to read so I just lap it up and wait for the next one. If you are ever feeling slumpy I recommend giving Clio Evans a try.
I think I would have read another 100 pages with these three!
Entranced by the Basilisks (Monstrous Matches #3) by Lillian Lark – 3.5⭐
Not my favourite Lillian Lark but it was still a really fun journey. I think it’s hard to beat Stalked by the Kraken.
What I love about her books is that I go into them for the monster smut and I’m always surprised by how deep they get. This one was no different. Emilia, Ari and Jasper each have their own demons to fight and it was cool and sometimes emotional seeing them get to their HEA but I did find the three of them sometimes lacked chemistry, that’s not to say there was none but it felt more forced than Deceived by the Gargoyles. I also didn’t really get the 3rd act conflict. I think Emilia really overreacted. I mean Ari didn’t actually lie!
Hopeless (Chestnut Springs #5) by Elsie Silver – 5⭐
I hate that our time in Chestnut Springs is over! 😦
A great way to end it though…
So, one of my least favourite tropes is the virgin FMC, especially with a big age gap. So I was concerned!
I should have known I’d nothing to worry about.
Bailey is no shrinking violet and she is well able to deal with Beau even if she is younger and not be as experienced. In fact I personally think she had way more emotional maturity than Beau. When she called his privileged ass out about his hatred of his job I cheered for her.
We also get another dirty talking king and the sex toy scene was HAWT!! Like read again HAWT!
I was also a little concerned about about the fake engagement trope but that was also done well, Beau obsessing about what they did and didn’t do while ‘faking it’ got a tiny bit old but it was also kind of sweet that he was worried about it.
I can’t wait to revisit Chestnut Springs when I need a comfort reread but I’m also very excited about what Elsie Silver has for us next.
Queens and Monsters (Three Fates Mafia #3) by Clio Evans – 3⭐
I enjoyed it, I think the reason I didn’t love it as much as other Clio Evans books is because I’ve been crazy bust and only got to read it in fits and starts and not the usual binge.
I loved Percy, found Madeline might be my least favourite Clio Evans FMC, usually we get good communication and not much of the silly doing stupid shit that puts everyone in danger carry on but Madeline did stupid shit that put everyone in danger and it really annoyed me.
Nice HEA!
Looking forward to whoever comes next!
Written (The Librarian’s Coven #1) – 4⭐& Warriors (The Librarian’s Coven #2) – 3.5⭐by Kathryn Moon
While not as good as her Sweet Omegaverse series or as wild as the Tempting Monsters books the first two books are a solid start to a four part series following the same characters. Really solid world building and character introductions. Looking forward to finding out more about Joanna, Aiden, Callum and Isaac.
And as always with Kathryn Moon sexy times were great!
Book one was much better than book two I think, they were all apart for too long in book two and it started to frustrate me, I really didn’t like Callum being prisoner for so long, it made me sad. Still planning on reading the next two books though.
