I found this tag on Jen Rose Writes, whom I recommend following.
This ended up being a particularly hard book tag. Romance spans ALL the genres so there is a lot of me not properly answering the question. Sorry!
What age did you start reading romance novels?
I’ve talked about this before in my Goldsboro Books Subscriptions – September 2021 post.
When I was 13 I found a copy of Lady Chatterley’s Lover in the attic and read it. It’s officially my first ‘dirty’ book. (note: I hate the term ‘dirty’ to describe books with sex in them but I’m using it here as that’s what I called them when I was 13 and how I thought of them for years, one day I will post about just how ironic it is that sex is looked at as dirty by many religious institutions and their followers.) Lady Chatterley’s Lover was Incredibly tame when compared to what I would come to later read but the 13 year old was shocked and also LOVED it! Reading beautiful prose and learning about sexual awakenings and class divides, it’s hard not to love this book.

So 13 was the start of my romance journey, I followed Lady Chatterley’s Lover by D.H. Lawrence working through the box of Mills & Boon I also found in the attic. Not a bad beginning! 😀
If you could pick one hero to meet from your favourite romance novels who would it be and why?
Whew this is actually impossible. I just reread Wolf Rain by Nalini Singh so for right this second I’ll say Alexei Harte. This will likely change before the end of the week. 😀 Alexei is an amazing character and I love that we get glimpses of him throughout the series and you go into this book thinking he is kind of just a badass pretty face but it turns out he has his demons and you end up wishing you could be Memory in order to help him figure them out.
Who are your favourite romance authors and why?
This is a tie between Nalini Singh and Kristen Ashley. I’d never be able to pick a favourite and both their books are my go to comfort authors. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without them the last two years. I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Nalini yet but I met Kristen in Paris in April 2019. I was a mess. I remember none of it. 😀

What is a favourite romance novel to re-read?
HA!!
Can I just revert to the above answer and any of Nalini Singh or Kristen Ashley’s books? 😀
I’ve read Slave to Sensation, Caressed by Ice and Kiss of Snow at least ten times and Sweet Dreams I think seven times.
What book would you recommend to a non-romance reader?
This is VERY hard.
Ummmmm I think I’d need to know what their usual preferred genre is first work from there. It’s a whole process trying to work out what floats ones boat.
So…
Love urban fantasy? Psy/Changling or The Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh
Love sci-fi? Captive of the Horde King by Zoey Draven (this is a pretty big swing but this series is really good)
Love fantasy? A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
Love historical fiction? Mine Till Midnight by Lisa Kleypas
Love contemporary fiction? Get a Life Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert (I know not picking a KA here might seem strange when she is a favourite author but I’m very aware that KA is not for everyone so I rarely recommend her to newbies. Talia Hibbert does fab contemporary and is a go to recommend from me)
Love non-fiction? Pick one of the above as a back up genre and we can work it out! 😀
Which is your favourite: contemporary, suspense, or historical and why?
Urban fantasy and fantasy. They are my favourite genres all round so I love when there is romance involved.
