I’m kind of(?) pleased with my 2021 blogging. I did fall behind between August and November but instead of ignoring the blog (like I’d usually do) I worked on the posts I’d planned for those months and backdated. It’s not ideal of course because you won’t get traffic to those posts, but it’s not like I’m getting thousands coming through here in the first place as I’m more or less using this blog as an online diary, so I’d rather have my wrap-ups backdated over not having them at all. π€·ββοΈ
MindforBooks Prompt Challenge Posts
This is something I’m very excited about and I’ve put more work into it than is usual for me. π It’s going to be a monthly prompt challenge with a big focus on women actually. It will be VERY broad and open to interpretation but it will be two posts from me per month. The first with the prompt for that month and the second with the post to match the prompt. If you’d like to take part the post with all you need to know is here.
Monthly Wrap-Ups
This ended up being one of my favourite posts to do during 2021. I fell behind a few times but I like keeping track here (and not just Goodreads or StoryGraph) and I also loved my little book wrap-up collages. I love a collage. π
Goldsboro Books Subscription
I’d like to keep this blog series up but as of 15th December I still don’t have the August Prem1er book so who knows! I love the books from this shop. They are incredibly special and a great investment but Brexit is starting to really create problems with getting stuff shipped from the UK. I’m waiting on 14 books from them and the cost of them was well over β¬300 (including shipping) so I’m getting to the stage where I may have to cancel this. It’s one of my favourite treats but it’s starting to stress me out. π
Non-Fiction Picks
When I started this series in 2021 I thought I was going to do in-depth reviews for each pick. With non-fiction THAT’S HARD! I think it’s the hardest genre to review because it’s mostly peoples personal stories and well, I feel I can’t be reviewing that. π I did add ‘mini-thoughts’ to the quarter 3 and 4 posts so I think I’ll continue to do that.
More In-depth Reviews (maybe)
I read 225 books in 2021 (granted there were a few rereads) and I gave mini reviews for most here and on Goodreads and StoryGraph, but the idea of long read reviews fills me with a kind of dread that can’t be explained. There are some books I’d love to do and I’ve started them but I get overwhelmed and leave them in drafts. One book that comes to mind was Cult Following by Bexy Cameron, that review kind of took on a life of it’s own so I abandoned ship! I feel I need to really think about how this will look and what it is that people want. π€·ββοΈ
Collages
These are so fun to do and particularly wonderful when books are very atmospheric. I feel like they kind of work great as reviews as well. If I’m making up a collage the chances are I’ve enjoyed the book and they can work just as well, if not better, as a way to encourage people to read a book I love.
Psy/Changeling Series Overview
One of my all time favourite book series and I’ve been working on this post for a long time. I’d love to finish it in 2022 and have a place here for all my loves.
Guild Hunter Series Overview
Another favourite book series (by the same author as Psy/Changeling) that I haven’t actually started working on but would like to once I’ve finished the Psy/Changeling post.
Sherlock Holmes Overview (mini reviews for entire collection)
This is a series of blog posts I’ve more or less finished. I need to do the mini review for The Valley of Fear and I’m done. Reread the book in October in order to do that and I still haven’t done it. I love that book as well so no idea why I’m delaying it. Would love to finish this up in 2022 as I cover every single story and some of them are great fun.
Travel Diary (COVID dependent)
My fingers and toes are crossed that we will get to Greece next year and I’d love a city break or two. COVID needs to sort itself and the city breaks are dependent on airlines rethinking some of those fares! π
Recipes
I cook fresh every single week so I have many recipes I’d love to share (and share the inspiration or where I found them) but actually, there is a lot more work that needs to go into these than one would think and I get a bit overwhelmed. Check out my recipes pin on Pinterest though as I use that a lot. I will change the recipe to suit myself and what I have in the kitchen about 80% of the time though so that’s why I’d love something here. Maybe 2022 will be the year I really work on this? π€·ββοΈ
Skincare
Started this blog series in 2021 and I’m not even halfway through, lost a bit of momentum just after I started so would love to finish and enhance this.
Fitness Spotlight
I did a fitness/movement journal for the first 3 months of 2021 and I actually loved it but it became a lot of work to post a weekly update so I finished that series in March. I have continued to keep moving though and I still use and love the app that I talked about in those post. Well in the interest of transparency, I haven’t used that app since my holiday in October, π but I do love it and I think in 2022 I might write a few posts about some of the things I’m doing that I love and work well for me with my injury and scatter them throughout the year. I do walk every day as well and I might post some photos from those walks, do people care about pretty sunrises? π
Have you any blog plans for 2022?
