During the pandemic I started using YouTube to workout, I found some really great fitness creators and found myself on it almost every single day. It therefore made sense to go in for the premium, I had no interest in my workouts being interrupted by adverts and with premium I also get YouTube Music which is very helpful.
So, having premium prompted me to find other creators I could watch when I wanted to relax, I’ve fallen in and out of love with a good few over the years. Most of the time I find my YouTube content via creators popping up on Instagram. Today’s post is about two such creators.
First up is a very recent find, but I am hooked:
Cecilia Blomdahl

Cecilia lives on Svalbard, an island close to the North Pole with her boyfriend Christoffer and their Finnish lapphund Grim. She makes videos about daily life in the Northernmost town in the world and posts every Sunday. I started following Cecilia and her family during the summer 2025, she popped up on Instagram with a Reel about an off-grid cabin. When I made my way over to her YouTube I discovered that the off-grid cabin is her and her partners holiday home, and that they actually lived a little bit closer to civilisation, in a recently renovated cabin close to the town of Longyearbyen. And I was just in time for the winter preparation they needed to do on their off-grid cabin and the build up towards Polar Night.
I’ve started taking myself off to bed a little bit earlier on a Sunday night and watching the new videos, they work especially good this time of year, went to bed at 9pm last Sunday to watch the Polar Night video.
Also, just to note, the residents of Svalbard seem to be really good at getting that lovely soft lighting that makes everything seem cosy, this is something I find really important in my own home so I really appreciate seeing it in a place that experiences 3 months of darkness every year. There is no need for that harsh bright light some people seem to prefer!
So I really recommend following Cecilia, Christoffer, and Grim. Especially at this time of year. Very cosy viewing.
Building a Dream

Description:
Join me as I build myself a home out of sea containers on my bushland property!
Welcome to ‘Building a Dream’, the nature-based DIY channel where I share all the knowledge, tips and skills I pick up on my journey of building a house out of sea containers using a sustainable and economical approach.
The dream I’m building doesn’t stop at a container house! You can expect to see various projects take place here from tiny houses to intricate water management system to secret gardens.
I’m Jasmin (with my best mate Jango) and a year ago I had never used a power tool in my life, I’m here to give you the confidence to give it a crack and show you that if I can do it, you can too!
I’m absolutely obsessed with this channel, Jasmin is a force of nature, she does things I could never imagine doing and I find myself so proud of this complete stranger across the world in Australia, who is doing something that seems impossible, but here I am watching her every week, just doing it!
Jasmin also releases a video every Sunday, with these videos though I like to save a few up and watch them back to back, she works so hard and so fast but by keeping a few videos and binge watching them, it’s very satisfying to see how fast her projects get completed.

What’s interesting about these two creators is that they are both kind of living off-grid in very different environments. This might lead people to believe I crave living this way and I think it’s important for me to point out that nothing about living off-grid appeals to me, but I love watching badass bitches and their dogs do it! ๐
