That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon (Mead Mishaps #1) by Kimberly Lemming

Well this was just delightful!

It was a little bit insta but it was also funny, and quirky, and wild. I had an absolute blast reading it. Cin was such a fun character and I fell in love with her right along with Fallon when she killed that alligator. I also strongly relate to her love of cheese, especially while being intoxicated! 😀

The premise was great but it also felt a little bit rushed, this is a VERY speedy read and that’s actually one of the reasons I picked it up, I was looking for something I could read on a Sunday afternoon. But a speedy read in a fantasy tends to mean you lose something, in this case it was fleshing out the world building and the adventure that Cin and Fallon embark on. What it isn’t missing is chemistry though, Cin and Fallon were smokin’.

Something I also loved (along with Cin and Fallon being smokin’) were the supporting characters. I’ve read the synopsis for the rest of the books and Brie and Cherry (which I’m very excited about) get their own books. There is supposed to be a forth book that doesn’t seem to have any information yet, and I’m really hoping it’s Usha’s book because she was an absolute hoot, and I love how she just took everything in her stride, it is is how I aspire to be in my everyday life. Actual goals!!

This book was pure cosy fantasy fun, the absolute best way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I’m so tempted to start the next one right away but this book had such autumnal vibes that I think I should save them for September!

Synopsis:

All I wanted to do was live my life in peace. Maybe get a cat, expand my spice farm. Really anything that doesn’t involve going on a quest where an orc might rip my face off. But they say the Goddess has favourites. If so, I’m clearly not one of them.

After saving the demon Fallon in a wine-drunk stupor, all he wanted to do was kill an evil witch enslaving his people.

I mean, I get it, don’t get me wrong. But he’s dragging me along for the ride, and I’m kind of peeved about it. On the bright side, he keeps burning off his shirt.
