January 2024 in Pictures

In a shocking turn of events, January didn’t suck!!!!

The key I’ve discovered is going on a little trip at the start of the month. I’m tempted to do this every year. Now, I said that after our trip and then there were like 3 storms back to back after we came home, one of caused absolute mayhem with planes landing in Dublin airport and had planes landing in very random cities in Europe, so now I’m thinking we were very lucky and January weather could be an issue for future trips, but I really want to go away again, currently toying with the idea of Austria or perhaps Morocco in 2025. We shall see!

So January 2024 highlights…

We went to Bordeaux for himselfs birthday at the beginning of the month so this will be Bordeaux heavy!

🐈 City cat! She was so French. I fell in love!

🎄A big plus to going away the first week in January is still getting the Christmas buzz which all of Bordeaux definitely had. The hotel still had their decorations up and this tree was in the courtyard which was outside our hotel room door. Took the sting out of having to take down the home ones a bit early.

🚴‍♀️Just because I was away didn’t mean I couldn’t spin. The people from my spin studio talk about finding studios to attend when they are away and it gave me the idea to have a look this trip. Found a studio 6 minutes from the hotel so I had to. It was fun but not as fun as the one at home.

🌉 Pont de Pierre 😍

🥘 One of the main reasons France was picked for this birthday trip is the boys obsession with duck confit. When asked what he wanted for his birthday he replied with ‘duck confit’. We were there 3 nights and had 5 duck confits! 😂 This is a duck confit pie and I rated this one pretty high.

🍷 We found Le Bar á Vin kind of by chance and what a find. We spent hours here, the vibe was just right, had a glass of bubbles and 3 big glasses of different Bordeaux’s each and it cost us €28.00. 🤯

🏛️National Opera of Bordeaux looking all festive.

🍾La Cité du Vin. We spent just under 3 hours here and could have done at least another 2. So interesting and so interactive and you get a glass of wine with a view after. The 5 senses buffet was my personal favourite part.

🧀 Just because he had to come back to reality didn’t mean we stopped spoiling ourselves in January. Took ourselves out for a treat day at the end of January, had a lovely lunch and finished our LOTR’s rewatch with a homemade charcuterie that I thought was very fancy! 😂

🏋️‍♀️Felt strong in January, I’ve gone up weight on more or less all workout days. The days when I can lift real heavy are my absolute favourites!
